In the morning we get up relatively early and leave the place shortly before ten o'clock. We continue north, as we don't really like it down here and the places are full, so we drive through to Valencia. We marvel at the many rice fields before reaching a beautiful spot in Albufera National Park in the early afternoon, about 20 km from Valencia. It's very windy and cloudy here, and we look for a sheltered spot behind the bus to set up our cooking area.
Then we grill a fresh piece of salmon with grilled pumpkin and green asparagus... delicious! After we've stuffed ourselves, Jörni has to take a nap for about half an hour before we take a long walk with the dog through the national park and back along the beach! Unfortunately, we miss the sunset overlooking the lake because we stroll along the other side by the sea.
We enjoy a cold beer before going to bed. It's really cool here and we want to be well-rested for the next day in Valencia.
Unfortunately, the next morning is very cloudy and shady. We dress warmly and have breakfast behind the bus in the shelter of the wind. Then we take another walk with the dog before boarding the bus to Valencia at 11:30 am.
The bus stop is right in front of the campsite... very convenient!
After a good twenty minutes, we're right in the middle of the city, and it's hard to believe, but the sky is blue and the sun is coming out... fantastic! We walk through the old town and visit the absolutely impressive market hall first. What a building and how huge it is inside.
There's everything you can eat... so much ham, so much vegetables, so much fresh seafood, and lots of delicious bites to eat on the go! Jörni is almost starting to drool, and you have to practically pull him away from the individual stalls... we eat our way through and buy delicious wine for our father at home!
Then we continue through the city. Valencia has many winding streets, and we sometimes get a little lost. It's really busy here and there's a bustling atmosphere, beautiful! After walking around all day, we make our way to the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciencies... modern architecture at its finest. I take many photos of this futuristic architecture, and we are truly impressed. Just in the historic old town and now the absolute modernity. A truly interesting city and well worth a visit. In the afternoon, we take the bus back, take another walk with the dog, and enjoy the sunset with a view of the lake on the 28b (Greetings to Esslingen... or better to Rota...)!
And while we enjoy a beer in the semi-darkness, it suddenly gets quite loud. As we raise our heads to the sky, we can't believe it because hundreds of flamingos are flying in large flocks over the lake, incredible!
While the flamingos flutter over the lake, we flutter into bed!
