In the morning, the weather forecast at 7:00 a.m. does not match the meteorological conditions at all: instead of the rain-free two hours until 9:00 a.m., it is pouring heavily. We move breakfast to the campsite's scullery and set off cycling at nine o'clock. This is a special time for us, as we have never been out and about this early in the day since June 1, 2024.
We cycle back to the Salzach on the Mozart cycle path and come across the Alpe Adria cycle path near the main train station.
Between Golling and Werfen the cycle path runs for about 17 km along the federal highway 159.
There is usually a marked lane for cyclists, but 8 km of that is without a cycle lane. This means that on the right there is 30 cm from the handlebars to the guard rail and on the left there is as little or as much space as you like between the cars (depending on how considerate you are).
Today ends in Werfen because the intended campsite closed last November and the other campsites along the route are too far away.
