Hello dear ones,

In this post, I want to tell you about our trip to the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and what else we experienced on Sunday, October 15th...

In the morning, much to the delight of our roommates, we got up early because we wanted to be in the park by 9:45 am and it would take a while to get there. Those who know me know that I'm not very fast in the morning and prefer to take it easy, so I think I got up at around 7. But well, after the morning routine was done, we almost left on time. We arrived at the park at 9:45 am and had enough time to get information and then go to the first attraction. Wai-O-Tapu is a large park full of active geothermal sights such as ponds with boiling hot water in various colors or geysers. The Lady Knox Geyser, which erupts every day at 10:15 am with soap solution, was the first attraction we visited. After watching this spectacle, we went into the actual park and looked at the various craters and lakes there. I particularly liked the Artist's Palette, a large lake that shines in various colors depending on the water level and the direction of the wind. The Devil's Bath, which glowed green during our visit, was the most impressive in terms of color. After following the path through the park and looking at the various things, it was time for our lunch. We had it in the parking lot of the mudpools that we had seen by chance a few days earlier.

Then we drove towards Rotorua and made a detour to the Redwood Forest on the way. There you can see the little siblings of the Redwood Trees from California. Although they were smaller, they were still impressive and we enjoyed our walk very much. After that, we went to the city center of Rotorua where Lina and I parted ways. She wanted to look for a jade necklace for herself in peace and I strolled around the city and the shops for a bit.

After a while, we met again and drove to our camping site outside of Rotorua. There we ate the rest of the pizza from the previous day and then went to bed relatively early because we had had a few long days.

That's it for this day. See you soon,

Your Jessi
