"Traveling is more than having a destination in mind.

It‘s discovering a place in your heart you‘ve never been before."

An excerpt from my travel journal

Today is my last day in the wonderful Alaska. On one hand, I'm sad, but on the other hand, I'm filled with anticipation as I head to Canada tonight 🇨🇦.

My time here has been simply indescribable. Even though I had to spend 7 days in bed in Fairbanks due to my cold, I have enjoyed every moment here, met incredible people at Billy's Backpackers Hostel, had deep conversations, found time to reflect and think about many things, and organized my thoughts. Time is a gift. And the ability to travel is also. To describe it best, I would compare it to "being a child." You are exposed to a new world that needs to be explored. Completely unaware, unbiased, curious, energetic, excited... Willing to understand this new corner of the earth, as well as its nature, people, culture... that's how I feel when traveling. Especially on this journey all by myself. With eyes full of excitement, I walked through Alaska for the past 1 1/2 months, overwhelmed by all the new impressions. I am infinitely grateful for this opportunity.

As much as I enjoy every trip with my friends or my better half, traveling alone is one of the best experiences I have ever had.

ICE Park
George Horner Ice Park - Normally at this time of year, there is an Ice-Sculpture competition. Unfortunately, it was canceled this year. However, the Ice Park is open and some artists have created their wonderful artworks. Definitely worth a visit!

Happiest girl in the world!!!!

Seeing the Northern Lights/Aurora is not that easy. Capturing them in pictures is even more difficult. That's why I'm so happy that as a group and with a gigantic camera, we managed to take these shots and capture this wonder.
But as great as the pictures are - they can only reflect this incredible phenomenon to a slight extent. How the lights dance and flicker in the sky is simply beautiful and hard to comprehend if you haven't seen it for yourself.

ALASKA

They say, in Alaska
you find the spaces in between
which contain all the secrets
that before had been unseen.

They say, in Alaska
the moon shines so bright
it is giving you safety
if you search through the night.

They say, in Alaska
prayers get answered at once
and you know that it happened
when you see the Aurora's response.

They say this about Alaska
and many other things, too
and let me say from what I've seen:
all of this is true!

Thank you, Alaska!

Thanks to all the incredible people I met! I'll be back!
