Stage 15: Sevilla —> Cordoba 142 KM (Total 3923 KM)

We check in at El Brillante campsite - the only brilliant thing is the name of the campsite ☺️🙂. The place is a bit old, but neat and clean, but relatively expensive. But it has one major advantage: it is located in the middle of the city.👍😊

We are back on our bikes and the first thing we notice is a wide and long promenade in front of the old town. We explore it and arrive at Cordoba's main train station. Clever city planners have put the train tracks underground, making much more space for pedestrians and cyclists.👍

We explore Cordoba's old town on foot for several days. The main attraction is the Mezquita, a huge mosque dating back to 784, which was converted into a Catholic church in 1236 after the Christians' victory over the Arabs. It is located in the middle of the old town and serves as our orientation point as we wander through the narrow streets. We visit it one morning and the mix of Arabic, Muslim, and Christian influences is very impressive!

One evening, we accidentally witness Catholic processions in the old town, which have the crucifixion as a theme. A large number of people participate in these processions - it felt like half the city was out and about...

Many restaurants offer Spanish live music as part of their program. On two evenings, we experience very talented Spanish guitar players and an impressive flamenco show.💃👍😉

Our conclusion: In Cordoba, the old and new town form a unified city with a special charm that fascinated us. This city is a top attraction and definitely worth more than one visit!👍👍👍
