After the longest flight of my life, we landed in Dubai at 4 o'clock in the morning. Tokyo was already quite warm, but the desert city welcomed us with a hot, warm breath. It's crazy, 24 hours ago we were still sitting in the National Art Museum in Nippon at Paul Bocuse and now Arabian Food in the Mall of Emirates. The World is my Oyster.... (Frankie goes to Hollywood)
Because of the honeymoon, we got an upgrade to a suite :o) a worthy conclusion to our world trip. For the last yen, we snapped up a bottle of gin at Tokyo Airport, the only alcohol outside of hotels. Alcohol is prohibited here, anyone caught blue behind the wheel will go to jail and be deported.
Sex in public? No!!!
Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates. 40 years ago there was neither electricity nor running water. Today, the most expensive hotel in the world is next to the Etihad Towers, huge bridges, state-of-the-art sports facilities, and the third-largest mosque in the world. The ruling family is doing great. Thanks to oil-lah!
The Arabs are lousy drivers and quite arrogant. Women are worthless and the unbelievers are subconsciously hated. Not a country for another time.
We had a reservation for Theatime in the Skylounge of the Burj al Arab. Felt like 10 courses... tidbits, finger food, cakes, and Roederer Blue. It was great, albeit expensive, to emulate the Duchess of Bedford at a height of 200m. Plenty of bites...
We are immensely looking forward to coming home...... and to you.
