28th Stage Mondonedo to Abadin

Well rested, but really ---- until 08:15 am, that feels good. Today is only a short stage.

Since last night, my thoughts have been more focused on home and family. Through WhatsApp, I found out that there are problems and the search for a solution, the fact that I am now here hiking and not on site to help, and especially the question of whether I am getting too involved in the lives of my children, occupy my mind throughout the whole way. Luckily, George, a young Dutch man, joins me at some point in the morning and we hike the route together. We talk about 'God and the world', about changes in our society, the future, and the importance of family. He speaks from the perspective of a young man with 30 years of age, while I speak from the perspective of a father/grandfather. And my limited English skills don't hinder the conversation, when my vocabulary is not enough, we use hand gestures and body language, or George already knows which words I am looking for and helps our conversation along. It is clearly very enlightening for both of us and time flies by. At the hostel, we have to say goodbye (for today ???) as George continues on.

Even though I didn't start as early this morning as I usually do, the sunrise and nature offer a lot and I try to capture my impressions in photos.

Throughout my walk in the forest, I am accompanied by a familiar sound, but I can't identify it. It is only when I rise out of the fog and reach a clearing that the mystery is solved. On the mountain, there are a few wind turbines. Spontaneously, the thought comes to my mind: 'I would love to finance a few of those.' ---- but the directive at the bank was: ----- observe, it frustrated me quite a bit.....------- back then, ........today is/live in a different time/world, and it's good.

On my journey, I come across mushrooms. With the first one, I am (almost) certain that it is a parasol mushroom. Beautiful memories are awakened, from a wonderful family vacation in Getnö Gard, Sweden. We prepared and enjoyed a mushroom like that in the pan.....such a delight. As for the second mushroom, I don't know anything about it, its name, whether it's edible or poisonous?????? I follow the proven Rheinian saying for both mushrooms: 'Wat der Buer (Banker) net kennt, dat frett he net (What the farmer doesn't know, he won't eat).'

When I look at my hiking app, George and I are facing a steep ascent. But it's like sometimes in life, just a matter of perspective. When I look at the profile picture in the horizontal instead of vertical, there's still respect, but the worry has vanished.

And another nice change, the stone signs along the Camino no longer have the exact distance indicated, something that George also perceives as a real improvement in our conversation.

The highly positive reviews of today's hostel are completely justified in my opinion. Very stylishly furnished, generous room layout, and great service, not only because of the free coffee.

The last photo is a small addition to yesterday.
