Quilotoa

After an exciting day yesterday, the morning begins today with a lot of tranquility. A look at the Quilotoa Lagoon before breakfast and a short walk along the edge of the volcano after Desayuno is so soothing and almost meditative. You want to inhale the peace and beauty of this sight and take it in.

The long drive to Baños also had a similarly calming effect over long stretches because it led through incredibly beautiful mountain landscapes along winding routes.

In contrast, the small town of Baños, located in a river valley, is a total contrast. Tourism flourishes here primarily because it is Ecuador's outdoor paradise.

We got our first impressions by taking a ride with a Chiva to the adjacent mountains. A Chiva is an open bus with party lighting and extremely loud dance music, which ensures that all passengers move or even stand up and dance in a good mood during the ride. But the fresh air and especially the great view also ensure a good mood during the ride.

On the way up, we pass various amusement parks, bars, and outdoor attractions. We are excited about the big swings that make you rise towards the sky over the abyss.

When we arrive back in the city below, the noise almost overwhelms us and we wonder if it will ever be quiet again tonight.
