Always "searching" for the most adventurous sleeping spot and the perfect view, we continued heading north.
Nothing could stop us when suddenly a river appeared and the road ended, there was a ferry waiting. Feelings of home, feeling like a Beckenrieder arose again.
Finding wild places for a short overnight stay seems to be more difficult in NZ than in Australia... But with a little patience, time automatically leads to one.
You simply drive down all the many roads, stop where you like, linger, enjoy, and move on or even stay overnight.
It is not always possible to drive in a circle, so after driving X number of kilometers, suddenly you find yourself in front of closed gates.
We will never know which people hide deep in the woods, far away from the hustle and bustle, behind the 11 mailboxes.
It is important to always approach everything positively, because alleged karma catches up with you faster than you think!!! Or Pascale :-)
For dinner, we always cook what nature gives us. We enjoy breakfast or lunch with the Kiwis but also with the other tourists somewhere along the route...
... always where our gut feeling says, it fits👍
Having arrived in the far north, we are happy about the completed leg of the journey.
It is always nice to stand at a lighthouse, enjoy the view and let the saying "Never wash without soap" go through your mind.
Cape Reinga, the furthest accessible point in New Zealand!
As in Skagen, Denmark months ago.... it is impressive to see two seas meeting.
We are already on our way again, towards?... down along the "Never wash without soap" -> West Coast.
But there should still be a little hike in the north.
With all our belongings and full of pride, we set off💪 After just under an hour of walking, we realized that the idea and the packed luggage (gas grill, 3kg gas bottle, tent, sleeping bags) were better than the reality.
Planless and well-reflected, with the realization to better prepare a hike, we happily returned without ever having seen a goal?! -> The journey is the destination😅
In short, with a self-made coffee called "huärä Güllä", we decided on the continuation of our journey...
...and to leave Cape Reinga.
