We were particularly excited to visit the Grand Canyon, the largest canyon in the world.
When we finally arrived in the afternoon and eagerly looked out from the 'South Rim', we saw...
...nothing.
Unfortunately, it was so foggy that we couldn't see the canyon at all. So we decided to spend some time reading information at the Visitor Centre and small museums. The fog eventually cleared up a bit, but the canyon was not clearly visible that day.
That's why we were glad that we could spend another day there. Our hotel was supposed to be 'right at the entrance of the national park'. Unfortunately, it was 90 km to Williams, where we stayed overnight.
The 'Grand Canyon Express' also operated from there, allowing people to take a train to the Grand Canyon.

So the next morning, we drove back 90 km, but this time we were rewarded with good weather and a clear view.
Throughout the Grand Canyon, the squirrels hoped for food from tourists. However, it was clear that not everyone was friendly to the little rodents: signs indicated that it was prohibited to push them into the abyss, and the police were seeking assistance in apprehending the culprits...
We left our car at the Grand Canyon, and were fortunate to find a parking spot. (It could also be because our car was relatively small and Americans can't parallel park.)
We used the shuttle bus to reach different viewpoints and hiked some sections.
