... will definitely be one of my dream places.ЁЯТУ
Jungle Beach is the name of the beach bar and if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is the place to be.
Not much going on. Some people are sitting and writing on their laptops. You even get electricity. I'm the exotic one reading a physical book lying in a hammock. You listen to the western-flavored music or the sound of the sea. I choose the latter and enjoy sipping my watermelon juice.
God, life is good. ЁЯШЧ
Meanwhile, some people back home looked at me weirdly when I said I was going to Sri Lanka alone. They reminded me of the economic difficulties, of course warned me about the political unrest, about the wild animals anyway, especially about the mosquitos and who knows what else.ЁЯк▒ЁЯжЯЁЯРЕ
But the thing is, something can happen anywhere. And fear can be so paralyzing. Nothing is worse than letting life slip away. Whether through black painting, senseless rules, or who knows what else.
Today, for example, I had such a great encounter that I wouldn't have had if I had been afraid. I'm still cautious (at least sometimes), but by now I have a pretty good feeling for things that are good for me. ЁЯШЗ
I was walking home (on the way there I ordered a tuk tuk) when suddenly a moped stopped next to me. Well, a few tuk tuks had already stopped before and asked if I wanted a ride, but I had decided to walk. But this time a woman smiled at me so warmly that I threw my plans overboard. She happened to have a second helmet with her and even though I would have ridden without a helmet, I got on without hesitation. She told me to show her the way and off we went. It didn't take 10 minutes and we stopped at my accommodation. Surangy told me about her daughter, who lives in a hotel and is learning German, and I could call her anytime and gave me her number. She didn't even want money for it, and impressed by so much friendliness and helpfulness, I walked thoughtlessly to my accommodation until I noticed that I still had her helmet on. I ran like crazy with slippers and a backpack after her, and when I caught up with her, we had a good laugh.
Encounters like this are rare.
In Germany, it's even like nobody looks you in the eye in the pedestrian zone. ЁЯдФBut here, even the poorest of the poor wave warmly at you from behind their garden fences.
I'm exhausted again and have sunburn.
Ouch and good night ЁЯШ┤
