Plan of today's stage

Today begins on relatively wide, easily navigable gravel roads through beautiful fir forests and clearings along the Bâsca Mare stream towards Comandāu.

I often come across trucks on the route that are transporting felled wood, but the barking groupies are also present in large numbers. I hardly get nervous anymore.

Common in Romanian forests

Arriving in Covasna, I find the Statje de Cale Ferata Abandonata at the source of the Covasna: a lost place and cemetery for railway wagons against the backdrop of the south-eastern Carpathians.

After another challenging off-road session (route heavily overgrown) shortly after Poiana Sarata, I arrive in Slanic-Moldova and find eight healing springs here.

Good opportunity to refill the water supplies. It's still 34°C in the shade 🥵. Then I drive on via Targu Ocna and Comanesti to Moinesti. Today's destination is changed to the city of Vaslui, as I'm really well on time and I don't really feel like camping here.

So we covered another 100km. First to Bacau and from there on to Vaslui.

I drive through sunflower fields beautifully set in scene by the setting sun - past old farms, herds and dazzling village churches.

Then I made it: Vaslui.

Now it’s time to take a break from driving again.
