MARKUS:
Inspired by Sivan, a young Israeli traveler we met on the bus to Ljubljana, we quickly abandon our plan to stay in the Slovenian capital and take the next bus to Lake Bled. After just a few kilometers, it becomes clear: good decision. City between cars and consumer goods, we wake up at our small private swimming bay right on the lake, where we found a surprisingly good spot for our tent in the dark and are greeted by huge trout on the shore in the morning. We jump into the water for the first time at night. The lake is crystal clear and pleasantly cool. Definitely a place to stay for two nights.
TANJA:
After a lap around the lake, we went to eat something authentically Slovenian: for me it meant buckwheat donuts with mushroom sauce and for Markus two enormous sausages. Anyway, it's very meaty here. And then back to the tent, as there is thunder again (it was like that last night). This time the lightning is flashing over the lake. The tent is still quite cozy, but the prospects of continuous rain for 2 days tomorrow in the Soca Valley (one of the most beautiful valleys in Europe in the Triglav National Park) are not so exciting...
Beautiful moments:
watching the Slovenian Olympic rowers at 7 in the morning while having a coffee, as they quickly cross the lake or impatiently throwing slimy-cooked noodles into the lake, only to find out that they attract a huge amount of fish.....our pets for two days💗
Less exciting:
sleeping in a tent on a steep slope reminds me of when I was a girl and rode roller coasters that were way too tall for me, desperately looking for something to hold on to. And then a karaoke party across the lake at a really cool location until 3:00 in the morning.... would have loved to celebrate with them since I was already awake.
After the unintentional 'all-nighter', a very good news: there is a bus directly to Bovec and it even departs late enough for us to take a hike to the impressive Vintgar Gorge. A perfect landing until suddenly an apocalyptic storm begins.... good thing we decided to keep our luggage in a cafe instead of leaving it open at the bus station....
