The reefs in Egypt are and remain part of the most beautiful in the world. Even if Hurghada's 'dead reefs' are lamented by many, there is still plenty of life further south, specifically in Makadi Bay.
Right in front of the beach is the house reef, which offers plenty to see for snorkeling beginners. For experienced snorkelers, it is probably a bit boring. However, there are numerous trips to neighboring reefs, where there is really a lot to discover!
Makadi Bay consists of several hotel complexes and is a 'separate area' - which means it is surrounded by a wall, and there are even inspections at the entrance. On the one hand, this is good, but on the other hand, you feel a bit alone and there is not much more than the small village.
Highly recommended for all package holidaymakers, because apart from the classic excursions to the desert (tour with quads, camel riding, etc.), or a boat trip to observe the dolphins in the morning, there is not much else to do.
Yes, what can one say about it: it is hot. We were there in August and it had (not only felt) 40 degrees. It is bearable on the beach thanks to a light breeze, and the dry air is by no means as bad for many people as the more humid air (for example in the Maldives, Thailand, ...). For us, it was hotter in the Maldives, but that is a matter of personal perception :-)
