16th day further to Almeria

Thursday, April 13, 2023: After spending the night in a bad accommodation, we started without breakfast after waking up. Stefan had been coughing all night, so the hours of sleep were limited. So that we wouldn't end up in a bad hotel at the last minute again, we reserved a room in Almeria. That was 75 km and nearly 500 hm, and due to the early start, we arrived around 3:00 pm.

The ride went through an unpleasant area, characterized by plastic greenhouses. If you look at this from the plane or on Google Maps, you can see how huge the areas are. The old weathered plastic sheets are lying around everywhere. The price for one of the largest vegetable gardens in Europe.

Almeria is a port city, where some ferries come and go. But it has also been dressed up for tourists.

We could learn something from the healthcare system in Spain. After hours of coughing, Stefan went to the 'Hospital Provincal' after consulting with the hotel lobby. The question of how the bill would be paid was answered with 'is free'. With the prescription in hand, he went to the pharmacy, where the number on the prescription was entered, and everything was taken care of for a payment of two euros (prescription fee?). After showing his ID, the costs were covered. Hats off.💪
