My landlord for the past two nights seems to be a hobby painter. The painting seemed to appeal to me.

Yesterday I took the time to relax and recover. The long hours of driving and sweating had taken a toll on my body, softening the skin and making it very sensitive. So the few days of rest and relaxation did me good.

Today I started off in high spirits. A strong thunderstorm last night relieved the intense heat. It started at 17 degrees and slowly rose to only 31 degrees in the afternoon.

I first went through the hinterland of Serbia. Shortly after starting, I reached a memorial in honor of the partisans who fought against the Germans here in World War II. Then I continued along the border river, the Sava. It's a beautiful and winding route, but unfortunately there were many towns along the way. So I decided to switch to the Bosnian side at the next opportunity.

The border crossing was once again very smooth, and the Bosnian officer was super nice: 'Welcome to Bosnia, Thomas.' 😀

I continued along the Sava for quite a while, passing through beautiful landscapes with hardly any towns, until I crossed the border to Croatia at Brckno. Once again, the crossing was problem-free.

Well, what can I say, the Croatians cannot build curves. It was a straight road all the way, with very few alternatives. But tomorrow I will be back in the mountains, where things will be more interesting again.

In the late afternoon, I checked into a hotel in Dakovo. After showering, I took a little stroll through the city, visited the cathedral, and had some ice cream.

Tomorrow I will continue towards Slovenia.

P.S. It accompanied me for 8,500 km. Unnoticed, it left me in the last 50 km 😢 My good German PET mineral water bottle. Now it, like millions of other bottles, will have to languish somewhere in a Bosnian ditch.
