Family day at Voith

In China, apart from eating and making (a lot of) money, family has the highest priority. People usually get married at a young age and then have one or two children. In the apartments, three generations mostly live together. The retired grandparents take care of the little ones while the parents go to work.

To show the rest of the family where mom or dad spends the whole day, Voith in Kunshan organizes a family festival every year. All members of the clan are allowed to visit the production and assembly halls or the offices.

It started at 12:00 noon. You could 'register' in one of 5 teams. Each team represents a division. So at the beginning, you received a bag with two caps and the first snacks.

Then there were tours of the workshops. Philipp loved it. All the helmets, forklifts, and machines😊

After the tour, we went outside the main entrance. The organizers didn't hold back here. Following the American example, Mikey Mouse was flown in, a bouncy castle and other games were set up, and there was food.

Everyone received a 'bag' with fruit, bratwurst, chicken, and sweets. In addition, two ice cream vans provided free 'tooth killers'.

Philipp made contact with the locals and could hardly be torn away from the bouncy castle.

The nice thing is that you also get to know your colleagues' families.

The families and teams could compete in various games to burn off some of the calories.

We dressed Jule in a cute dirndl dress and she became a sought-after object for photos, sometimes hardly being taken out of the arms of her colleagues.

All Chinese people always tell us that the Mandarin character for good (Hǎo, 好) consists of the characters for boy and girl. So everything's good with us!
