Day 1 in Bali. Seminyak

Yet another travel blog. After an unspectacular journey, we arrived on the island of the gods. Our first destination is Seminyak, popular among backpackers and surfers. Contrary to every recommendation on the internet and in travel guides, we naturally took a private driver from the airport to our accommodation. It's quite overwhelming when you get outside the airport and 150 people offer you their driving services. But that's okay, for the money I would have at most gotten a taxi driver from the train station to home in Bielefeld. After almost 15 km and a two-hour drive through Indonesian traffic, we reached our camp. We even got an upgrade by accident. Private pool, outdoor kitchen, and outdoor bathroom. We still don't know why we need the kitchen. But for one night, it's nice. We took a short nap, missed the sunset on the beach, and tried the first warung. Cider for 1 Euro and chicken wrap / pork pide with rice for 3 Euro go down well. Quote from Maren: 'Delicious'.

The work ethic of the people here is simply amazing. Taking a short break or a quick nap during work or sitting on bean bags at the beach between tourists is normal here. Unimaginable in Germany.

Tonight, we might have a glass of wine in the pool or just go to bed – we'll see.

Tomorrow, we're heading to Ubud, of course, we've organized another overpriced driver, well, it's vacation after all.
