The night was very short with 2-3 hours of sleep, but after saying goodbye to Julian and Jinju the night before, we set off at 10 am to the car rental, where we received our midsize Toyota.

Then we drove out of the city over the Golden Gate Bridge and stocked up on a tent, cooler box, and other camping utensils at an outdoor store.

Unfortunately, we weren't able to reserve a campsite and didn't want to search for one after the 4.5-hour drive, so we drove to Carson City where we had booked a hotel/motel room.

After checking in, we went to a Thai restaurant to satisfy our hunger. We were seated right by the window facing the street. This led to us being confronted with the local customs (or at least we assume so) when a woman suddenly entered the restaurant and asked us how we were doing, where we came from, and if she could introduce us to her 18-year-old, pretty daughter. We were a bit overwhelmed by this situation and politely agreed. However, when she waved at us through the window instead of bringing her daughter inside, we declined as we hadn't even finished eating. It seems that here, the parents still choose the partners for their daughters. But we're not quite sure if this is really normal or if it was just an exceptional case. For us, it was definitely very unusual.
