Optimism and joy return.

September 26-30, 2019

I cleaned my room, washed all the beddings, and swept my room. Today, I finally leave this place. My French colleague, with whom I got along with the best, drove me to the airport. Before that, our Chinese colleague told us how to cook such great soups and wrote everything down. New great recipes!

Then we took off with a delay. During the planned layover in Gove, they took samples from me to test for explosive materials. Of course, they found nothing. It was strange that there were no security checks on Groote Eylandt because they didn't have the technology for it. That's why everything was done in Gove.

Finally went to the hairdresser the next day. I felt like a new person. Finally, I could walk the streets looking tidy again. Besides that, I sunbathed and swam at the waterfront. I felt great, having made the decision to leave the island. The salary there was really good, but the price was too high. The undignified treatment was not worth it. I didn't regret deciding like this. Everyone is the architect of their own happiness. And I chose to be happy, not to chase money.

Then came the reunion with Jana and we went into town together in the evening. We celebrated into my birthday. Jana was totally focused on when it finally was midnight, I probably would have even forgotten my birthday.
