From Cairns, we drove north and stopped on the coast for the beaches Trinity Beach, Clifton Beach, and Palm Cove. Due to the crocodile danger in northern Australia, it is not possible to swim there.

Our first overnight destination was Newell Beach. Until then, we had not yet tackled our plan to install mosquito nets on the windows to be able to breathe fresh air at night. The provisionally taped net at least got us through the first night. This problem was, of course, fixed by us hobby craftsmen the next day.

From our campsite in Newell Beach, we took day trips to Mossman Gorge and the Daintree River.
The Mossman Gorge included a beautiful hiking trail that led through a small part of the jungle and a rocky river where we could swim for the first time.
At the Daintree River, we booked a crocodile tour, were lucky, and saw four crocodiles in the beautiful nature of the Daintree.

Our northernmost destination was Cape Tribulation. On the way there, we hiked on a few jungle trails and saw our first - and hopefully last - snakes.

At Cape Tribulation, we spent three nights at a campsite surrounded by nature. It was very relaxing days that were purely for relaxation.

Now we are heading to Townsville, or Magnetic Island.
Yesterday we visited all the well-known waterfalls along the way. Finally, enough opportunities to go swimming!

We stayed at Golden Hole, a freely accessible campsite, overnight.

Until then,

your Louis & Jonas
