Follow the wind and the waves

Overall, this little boat trip is a fun experience. I have to admit, I wasn't really excited about it at first. The weather was bad, I was already imagining myself with motion sickness on board, the forecasts for Torres del Paine were also bad, the whole morning we were annoyed by self-centered and loud Americans (hey guys, actually, a kind of...), and then I got a coffee with spray cream instead of a cappuccino. So, the day was already over for me at 12:45 when we were supposed to be at the ship for loading.
But when we boarded, the sun came out and my mood improved: we got a cabin all to ourselves, we met Tina and Maike, and the ship left earlier than announced! Ships and the sea are just a good thing. I feel a bit like on a holiday camp, except that I'm not in charge. There are fun activities (ok, no silk painting like in Ameland), but things with wool, mandala painting, yoga and tai chi, movie night... I'm especially looking forward to bingo and karaoke. I was just waiting for a fun icebreaker game (now everyone stand up who is from Germany) after the safety and orientation instructions (no alcohol on board, if wet, then slippery, etc...).
Actually, we are on a transport ferry that supplies Patagonia where you can't get by car, and at the same time makes money by bringing tourists from all over the world closer to Torres del Paine.
Outside, the beautiful landscape passes by, sometimes closer, sometimes a bit further away: lots of water, islands, fjords. And we don't have much to do other than observe it (in addition to the mandalas, of course). Because besides the alcohol ban, we were also prescribed 'digital detox'. 😊 No internet on board, no cell phone reception. The British have already formed a walking group that walks at least 25 laps around the deck every morning and afternoon (they probably do that even in the rain), the yoga class (unfortunately not Pilates!!) was phenomenally attended, others here also simply nod off while writing their travel diaries. Well, there's not that much to report anyway!? For my part, I'm going to sit outside again now and watch the passing islands, hoping for a whale to pass by so that I don't have to go whale watching with Helmut again. 😉
