Our journey from Bucharest ended at night (in the dark) on the Danube in Fetesti. In the morning, we woke up to find ourselves in a field of garbage surrounded by wandering livestock with tied legs to prevent them from running away. :( A little further away were crumbling but still used shepherd huts. You can't always be lucky with parking places. After getting a new vignette for the highway, we preferred to quickly continue north to Tulcea - the gateway to the Danube Delta. On the way there, we drove through beautiful grazing land that has remained unchanged since the early days of economic development in socialism. Tulcea was not particularly appealing to us as we preferred to stay in one of the small villages on the edge of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve. So, the tourist information office (which we have used very little lately) was our only point of contact in the city where we got all the necessary information about the campsites in the area. Also, because it was raining ash and smelled of smoke from one of the forest fires nearby, we continued on. We chose Murighiol as our starting point for our tours in the Danube Delta. That is really recommended because there are several small family-run campsites here where you pay about 8 euros per night for 2 people and a car or tent, and the fishermen offer tours with their small boats, which is nicer than the large tourist boats from Tulcea. We spent the rest of the day sunbathing and lazing around in the grass, reading, and making music. The next day started early: at 7 o'clock we were in the car of the campsite owner with a couple from Poland, who drove us to the port where her husband was already waiting for us with the small ready-to-go boat. The five of us went to the Danube Delta, where the morning fog was beautifully dispelled by the sun. In addition to countless birds: pelicans, herons, swans, ducks, seagulls, and many others whose names we don't know (yes, even though I'm studying to become a science teacher... I know.), we also saw beautiful green frogs and fish. Our tour took us through three lakes and various small river channels, and it was really really beautiful. The rest of the day (after 3 hours, around 10 o'clock, we were back) we also spent in the sun doing nothing. Well, doing nothing is always relative :)

The next day, we wanted to start again at around 11 o'clock... but Winniefred didn't want to. Due to the lazy days when the doors were permanently open and the interior lighting was on and probably also due to its age, our battery had given up once again. Our nice French neighbors quickly gave us a jump start with their rental car, and this time the electronics didn't mess around (:D)... So, shortly after, we could continue because our second major milestone, the Black Sea coast, was not far away!

PS: If it should have been noticed annoyingly when viewing the photos: my (FloH) camera has dust particles in the lens, which is why unfortunately there is a shadow seahorse on many pictures. I'm naturally very happy about constructive feedback.
