Queenstown 1.3.-6.3. 2018

I have already mentioned in a previous post that I often travel with my host family. However, my trip to Queenstown is mainly thanks to my host sister, who decided to get married in Queenstown. Since I chose not to attend the wedding, I had even more time to explore the area.

On the first day, even before we arrived at the campsite, it was time for my first bungee jump. I did it from the Kawarau Bridge, which is over a river and you jump 43 meters down. If you're lucky and the river's water level is high enough, you can even dive into the water. Unfortunately, it didn't work out for me due to the water level. :( Nevertheless, the bungee jump was incredible and I would recommend it to everyone! (If you want to see my bungee jump video, --> https://www.instagram.com/sebastiangisperg/?hl=en). After that, we checked in at the campsite, set up all the tents, and enjoyed the evening.

It's really nice to camp right by a beautiful lake and start the day with a refreshing swim. That's how I started the second day in Queenstown as well. This day was actually just for relaxing, as we didn't have any big plans. However, in the evening, we drove to a lookout point with an incredible view of the lake. After that, we had a delicious barbecue.

On the third day, my host sister's wedding took place, which means I had the whole day to myself. I spent most of it in the actual city of Queenstown. After a very good but expensive breakfast, I mainly spent the day shopping. However, not just for myself, but also looking for gifts for home. When I had spent enough money after a while, I decided to take the bus back to Frankton and go swimming and jogging again.

We had a comprehensive program planned for the fourth and final day. First, we went to the luge. It's a gondola in Queenstown that goes up a 'mountain'. From there, you can either enjoy the view or take another chairlift a little further up and then ride down two kart tracks. Even though it's not allowed, the group race on these karts is by far the most fun. Since we were a large group of about 8 people, the luge was one of the best things I did in Queenstown. After resting again at the campsite for some time, we decided to use the boat and go wakeboarding. We were the only ones (!) on the whole lake and it was truly beautiful and perfectly calm for wakeboarding. The end of the evening and the whole trip was also perfect. On one hand, we had barbecue again, and on the other hand, I was able to observe probably the most beautiful sunset in my life.

In conclusion, I must say that I am incredibly grateful to my host family for this wonderful trip and I'm glad I had the opportunity to visit Queenstown.
