Hue - Visit to the Forbidden City

प्रकाशित: 25.01.2019

In the morning, we made our way to the Thien Mu Pagoda. It is the tallest pagoda in Vietnam and was built by Nguyen Hoang, the founder of the Nguyen dynasty, in 1601.

From there, we took a rickshaw to a house inhabited by the niece of the last emperor. We were served tea and bananas and were able to take a look inside the luxurious residence.

Afterwards, our drivers took us to the forbidden city. It measures 600 by 600 meters and was built within 30 years, modeled after the Forbidden City in Beijing. Fortunately, only a part of it was destroyed by the Americans, and other parts are being rebuilt based on existing photographs.

The pictures can only partially convey the magnitude and impressiveness of the complex.

After all the impressions, we were glad - rather late - to be able to have our lunch in peace and then go to the airport, where we continued our journey to Ho Chi Minh City.
