Now Lea has finally managed to compensate for the time change with her waking time - there is a seven at the front again! The downside is that the sunrise is already over when we get out of bed.
Our parking space for the night was "P13" - cool thing when the country is so small that you can number the parking spaces. P13 is located near the valley station of the cable car that could take us to the city. We still explored the opening hours of the cable car and then the discussion started about which route to take. Lea wanted to go up and I wanted to go down - typical stalemate situation, result: decision postponed.
After our dinner, the place came to life again. One or two motorhomes joined us and unfortunately we had to move again last night - our neighbor's motorhome decided to start the engine and let it run around 7 p.m. Apparently, he had no other way to heat. Since we didn't want to risk him starting again in the middle of the night, we fled to another part of the site.
After a very quiet night, we headed towards the cable car. Since no one really wanted to give in, we agreed to go up and down on foot. After the first few meters of elevation, the first photo should be taken. After Lea had already noticed 30 seconds earlier that she had forgotten the spare battery, she now realized that the memory card was missing again. We once had a game where there was a field just before the goal where you had to go back to the start - that's how it felt today. On the second try, we were more successful, but as always, there are multiple ways to reach the goal. Against all reason, the short one should go uphill. This time almost 200 vertical meters over an estimated one kilometer distance. We arrived at the top on a sun-soaked square, completely drenched in sweat. My appearance for the next few minutes must have resembled a cormorant drying its feathers - arms spread wide and allowing them to dry. With the gigantic view of the surroundings, you could easily pass the waiting time. The subsequent castle or city stroll was very nice, with many small alleys, three towers, and beautiful views in every direction. We wondered several times how this republic could have survived for over 1000 years? - the location on this mountain is probably not entirely innocent.
Now we should also go back on foot. The duration indicated was almost an hour longer than our ascent, so it should actually be a leisurely downhill. Unfortunately, we were totally wrong with this assessment. The entrance to the hiking trail already made me a little nervous - the direction sign on the signpost had been scratched off!! The first part was still okay, but then it went up and down with ropes. After the quite adventurous path, Lea found a sign saying that no enemy had ever climbed the mountain from this side - now we know why!
After a short break, we headed towards Bologna. We got stuck in Dozza about 30km before our destination. The whole village is a kind of gallery. There is a small or large artwork painted directly on the wall of almost every house - very chic. And very important! Lea had to plant our stolen branches (from a very beautifully flowering bush) in the soil today. Let's see if we can get them over the Alps safely.
