Melbourne - Friends, Food, Art & Co

😮‍💨Wow first of all,

we're back after a little break (enough suspense built up). You have to experience something to be able to write about it. And due to our packed 50-hour week, not much comes together except stress, greasy hair, the occasional cake (we all know Leo means the caramel slices with that) and a good amount of money. 🤑

Well - where do we start - from a living and working perspective, we've gained a new colleague/roommate, which is good, but unfamiliar in terms of space. One must say she is nice, open and likes to talk (even though silence is sometimes nice🌚) - on the other hand, she comes from the French-speaking part of Canada, so you can also learn something, it is the eastern region of Quebec. What can we say, she is actually French and speaks English like one, we didn't expect that.🥖 But well, we accept her into the pack.

Enough of my monologue about the new roommate, the headline is Melbourne (Australian pronunciation Melbin) etc., that is also provided. As the loyal readership may already know, we have 2 free days a week, so of course we didn't miss the chance to meet Peaaaanut (Chrissi still knows her from the BKK blog) one last time before she leaves us for the next year. cry🥹

For this occasion, we packed our things and set off. 🐅

Wake up 6 AM😩

Departure 7 AM

half a day of travel and still better and cheaper than the stupid German Railways. (If I could link them here, I would, the plebs)

But well, finally arrived on site, I (Leo) naturally stuffed myself with a proper sushi roll at the train station because why not, I'm young (more or less) and wild. After that, we were warmly welcomed and picked up from the train station. Those who know Chrissi also know that she always plans ahead, so our time was largely well-planned, which was quite nice because retirees would pay a few pennies for that. Our accommodation 7/10 was kindly greeted by an Indian concierge and various scents. The gym was no longer there and for the rooftop terrace, you have to rent a penthouse apartment. Stinks.

The two-day stay was characterized by excessive coffee consumption and marathon-like step counts, which is good when you're rushing through the rest of the week. What Melbourne has over German cities is free public transport

- young how cool is that, simply for free -

We visited numerous, umm, 2 vintage stores, which were more in the price segment of an upper middle-class income rather than in the budget range of a backpacker - but never mind, good pictures were taken and let's be honest, they're better anyway, because yeah, just because.

Culinary-wise, the city has a lot of good things to offer. 🍜🥟🍱

There were ramen, dumplings, sushi rolls, food markets, vegan Sri Lankan buffets (yes, even Leo enjoyed some delicacies there). But the ramen convinced us the most, good broth, nice fillings, nice atmosphere, and juicy fried (CAUTION DISCLAIMER) pork belly.

Now let's talk about art and culture.👩🏼‍🎨🎨

Just like the city's public transport, the NGV (National Gallery Victoria) was free, just like that, awesome.

There were relics from long-gone times, from the Olmecs, Aztecs and Mayans, to paintings from the pre-dynastic era of ancient Egypt, to Dali's surrealism and Picasso's paintings influenced by Cubism. Lots of gibberish, but we want to impart some knowledge to you, yes, parts of it came from the internet, I'm not a catalog, lul. There was also a music playlist for free on top.

Yes, what else can we say, Melbourne, that wasn't the last time.

Now we're back to work.

Your golden heads👩‍🦳👨‍🦳
