Cloudy outlook

After raining all night and drumming loudly on the roof, the morning also started gray and wet. The usual routine quickly went by and we set off for the next destination.

Today, our route took us 302km further southwest to Flam. The landscape is still an absolute dream, mountains, endless roads through uninhabited areas, lakes, forests... Norway is an absolute must for nature lovers! Due to the rain, the visibility was occasionally poor, especially in higher altitudes, as the fog barely revealed the road. On our tour, we also passed through the longest tunnel in Norway, the Laerdal Tunnel, which is 24.5km long! In the tunnel, there are three illuminated halls bathed in blue light. Nevertheless, Robby, today's driver, was relieved when we reached the end. It can be quite exhausting. The goal of the day was not far away: Flam, a harbor town at the end of Auerlandsfjord. Cruise ships regularly dock here, buses take tourists to this region, and the Flambahn - a train that covers 864 meters of altitude on its route - also has its end point here. The campsite we chose promised a picturesque village at its feet, with a view of the harbor and the train station, surrounded by a beautiful mountain scenery. Hmm... the mountain scenery is truly gigantic. It is not far on foot to the center (meaning harbor and train station - there is nothing more) of Flam, but that's about it. One souvenir shop after another, all at overpriced prices and the same offer in every store. The rain subsided for a few minutes, but then started again in the evening. We haven't seen blue sky all day. Somehow, it weighs a bit on the mood. But we don't give up hope that the weather will improve and we will get to see some beautiful waterfalls and fjords. Tomorrow we will make a new attempt. Send some sun up, that would be nice!

PS: The laundry is finally dry after 3 days! And we have discovered a new favorite grilled dish: steaks without marinade, just grilled and then seasoned. Mom... this is for you <3
