Just 15 minutes drive away from our first destination, Antelope Canyon. The canyon can only be visited with a guided tour. Even though it wasn't holiday season, all tours were fully booked. Luckily, we had made a reservation. The area consists of the Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon and is also located on Navajo Indian land. Today, we visited the Lower Canyon. The Navajos call it Hazdistazí, which means twisted arches. Very fitting. We were sorted into one of 10 groups of 8 people, walked 5 minutes to the start of the canyon, and then began the descent. We stood between high cliffs. The stones shimmered in the colors yellow, red, purple, ochre, and brown. We kept walking through the canyon and the walls kept getting closer to us. The sun gradually rose higher, now illuminating parts of the rock walls and sending beams of light through a few holes, creating a fantastic image in the canyon. We couldn't take enough photos to capture the amazing impressions. This canyon was created by Antelope Creek, a stream that is about 30 kilometers long but rarely carries water after heavy rainfall. Nevertheless, nature has managed to form these remarkable and completely different arches in the rocks. We climbed up a very narrow staircase and suddenly we were almost back at the reservation office. No more colorful rock arches to be seen. From a bird's-eye view, you wouldn't suspect that there is anything hidden in the small channel between the rocks.

On the way, we stopped at Glen Canyon Dam. This huge dam holds back the Colorado River. Due to the dam, which involved moving 4,212,551 cubic meters of sand and stone during its construction, the second largest reservoir in the USA, Lake Powell, was formed.

And then it was "Viva Las Vegas".
