Yesterday we first visited the great wine city of Bordeaux. Very beautiful old buildings and small streets. But it was still too early for wine! Then we went towards Arcachon to La Teste-de-Buch, first through a cute fishing village where there were oyster beds and mountains of oyster shells everywhere along the way, to the largest dune in Europe. After a peaceful night in a random parking lot, we looked for a sunny spot for breakfast. We walked through a forest to the beach and there were bushes with tons of red and yellow lychee-like fruits on the sides. After some research, we found out that they are strawberry trees and the fruits are edible. We mixed them with yogurt and were quite excited about our discovery. In the afternoon, by chance, we discovered a super nice parking spot in the forest where many other buses were parked and some dogs were running around. From there it was not far to the beach and it was so warm that we actually went for a swim. Unfortunately, Sebastian had some allergic reaction in the area and was constantly sneezing. That's why we replaced our planned stay at the nice parking spot with a trip to the next open pharmacy on Sunday to get allergy pills. It was also time for a shower, so thanks to the app, we found a shower on a beach promenade where we took a cold shower among all the passers-by. Refreshed, we headed back because we still hadn't seen the largest dune in Europe, the Dune du Pilat. After a walk through a forest, we were able to climb the huge sand dune (up to 110m high), which was really exhausting in the sinking sand (even for Naomi). But it was definitely worth it for the view, especially since we were at the top just in time for the sunset.. :)
