Lillingstonheimen, a little piece of England in Norway

प्रकाशित: 30.09.2019

Although we were at the party until 2 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, we felt fit enough to start another tour on Sunday at 12 o'clock.

We met Ole Bjarne at the harbor, then we went to the gas station, by boat! We drove to a nearby dock and walked the remaining hundred meters. There I expanded my list of 'People you don't want to meet at a gas station on Sunday morning': My math teacher including family!

But then we went out to sea. And there we saw these fantastic (and at the same time a little mythical) landscapes.

On the left you can see the Heileberget and in the middle, behind the island, is the bridge

On the way to Lillingstonheimen we did a little fishing and caught a pollock. We filleted it and saved the leftovers for later.

Then we passed a fish farm where we saw the salmon jumping and shortly after a seal appeared.

Then we went ashore and took a look at the outside of the British house. According to Ole Bjarne, it should look very British inside, but from the outside it looked like a normal Norwegian house. The avenue leading to the house is made up of trees planted in 1808, which the farmer there revealed to us.

After that we took a short circular walk to the private cemetery of the former residents and up to the hill there.

The residents had built a small lake there, on which they sailed with rowing boats.

Since the tour is operated and maintained by the national tourist agency, there was also a tour book there, in which you could register, which of course we dutifully did.

On the way back to the boat we had this great view of the fjord.

In terms of temperature, it is slowly becoming autumn here: While it was completely fine to go hiking in a T-shirt on Saturday because it had 18°C, on Sunday you already needed a thick sweater because it was only 10°C.

The rest of the day follows in the next blog entry...
