Malmo

Friday 09/01/23

After an impressive train ride over the Öresund Bridge, which connects Denmark and Sweden, we arrived in Malmö. We locked our luggage there at the train station and then sat in a small park and had another quick bite to eat. Then we picked out a cute little cafe and drank coffee there and played a bit of Cabo (great game, highly recommended), and I ate some really delicious banana bread!! Suddenly it was already 4 p.m. and Hannah was picked up at the train station by her au pair family. After a tearful farewell on my part, she was really gone. From then on I continued on my own. Since my hostel was half an hour's walk from the train station and my backpack was really heavy, I bought a bus ticket (it was surprisingly easy using an app and surprisingly cheap) and drove to the hostel. After I finally found the reception after a long search, I was able to check in. I got there for a while and then just set off to explore the city. I actually had a destination that was only 40 minutes away but somehow it took me 1.5 hours to get there because I was just kind of walking and then got a little lost (oops). On my way I discovered that there was currently an "Oktoberfest" taking place at the harbor, it was very entertaining to listen to a bit. I discovered half a dozen rabbits on a mini meadow right by the water, which is totally absurd in the middle of Malmö. On the way home I went shopping. After the day I was incredibly exhausted, just ate quickly and then fell into bed and slept like a log.

Saturday 09/02/23

After breakfast I went to a modern art museum, it wasn't that exciting, but luckily it was free so it wasn't so bad. Afterwards I decided to walk to the beach, it took about half an hour to walk. On the way I had to go through a park and it was so beautiful so I sat in the sun by the lake for a bit. At some point I went on to the beach. So it wasn't the most beautiful beach, but it was the first time at the sea in a few years. I walked through the water a bit and had to be really careful because there were jellyfish everywhere. At some point the wind on the water became a little unpleasant and then I walked back into town. I sat down in a cafe in the old town and wrote a post for the blog there. Afterwards I was really hungry and quickly grabbed a pizza because I really felt like it. I then ate the pizza in a park. There was a kitchen in the park from which I heard music the whole time. When I finished eating I went there and looked at what was going on. There was a group of musicians playing Swedish folk music, really great, and the acoustics in the church were also great.

Lund

Sunday 09/03/23

On Sunday Hannah picked me up at the hostel in her au pair family's car and we took a little day trip to Lund. There we were again in a botanical garden. Afterwards we sat comfortably in a cafe and played a bit of cards. Later we went to the sea and walked along the beach for a bit. Unfortunately it smelled really bad there at times but otherwise it was very nice and very windy. We then went to Hannah's au pair family's house to have a quick snack and then she drove me back to the hostel.
