Good morning Australia, as we landed at 05:45 am 😁. After a 4.5-hour flight from Bali, we arrived in Australia - Cairns. Now we have a time difference of +9 hours. We have already booked our first hostel - Globetrotters - in Germany. The hostel was very relaxed and provided a good start in Australia! We shared a room with a French couple who were also very relaxed.
On the first day, we relaxed and explored the city. In the evening, I cooked for the first time in a long time - it was delicious!
On the second day, we walked to the beach. In most places in Australia, it is not allowed to swim in the sea as there can be jellyfish - it's currently the start of jellyfish season - or crocodiles in the water. There is often a kind of swimming pool in front of the sea.
On the third day in Cairns, we were able to pick up our car and drove around to plan the rest of our time. More information will follow later 😊
Due to many recommendations, on day four we drove north to Cape Tribulation. There is the Daintree Rainforest, which is said to be one of the oldest rainforests in the world. It is located directly on the coast. Incredibly beautiful landscape between lonely beaches and large mangrove forests.
There are several hiking trails that can be easily walked. There are also several viewpoints where you have a great overview of the landscape. There is no mobile phone reception there, so you can't get distracted. We slept one night in the middle of the jungle. The next day, we took a boat ride in the hope of seeing huge crocodiles, and it worked.
Now we are in Port Douglas and are considering what we will do in the next few days 😊!
