Our hotel in Bangkok was located directly on the Khaosan Road. The street in Bangkok that lives day and night - and truly so. The 'party center'. When checking in, the ladies at the reception asked us if it was okay that our booked room was only facing the street. We didn't think much of it and nodded naturally.
When entering the room, we looked at each other briefly with some confusion because there were earplugs on the nightstands... but we didn't think much of it. Maybe a little goodie in case your partner snores or something?😀 In the evening, everything became clear to us. When Markus asked me to please close the windows because the music from the club BELOW us was so loud and I had to realize that the windows were already closed, we both just looked at the earplugs, which now made perfect sense... The music got louder and louder as it got later, making it impossible for us to have a conversation in the room 😀 No chance of sleeping here (the music didn't stop until 3 o'clock at night)...
We spent the first two days at our rooftop pool in the hotel and strolled through the market and food stalls on Khaosan Road. On the second evening, my old classmate, who is living in Bangkok for a semester abroad, visited us. We went out with him in the evening to the bars, where Markus tried his first scorpion, among other things 😀
The next day, Markus had another first 😀 the first tuk-tuk ride! We took the tricycle to the district of Lorenz, with whom we were already out the night before. Here we visited two temples and had dinner right by the river.
And just like that, the days flew by and we could finally get rid of the earplugs😀
