The journey back to Naankuse was dreadful😰 After we had been on the road for about half an hour, our driver stopped for the second time at the roadside. He got out, ran to a bush, and vomited🤮 Somehow he suddenly didn't feel well and couldn't continue driving. Great, so we were in the middle of nowhere in the desert without reception. Luckily, there was an older woman from England with us who drove a little further until we had reception and could call Naankuse. They then sent Mielie (who is actually on vacation this week🫣) and another driver to us, and we waited for over an hour on the roadside. The new driver then took us to the next town, where we could only go to a gas station because the supermarket was already closed (everyone had already written shopping lists😂). At the gas station, people from the farm were waiting for us, who then drove us to the farm. We finally arrived around 9 pm🫠
The group here has really changed a lot. So many new people and most of them go to their tents very early, so no more party every night like in the beginning😂 A girl (Maja) whom I met in Harnas is also in Naankuse. Otherwise, I don't actually know a lot of people😱
I was really lucky and had my old tent again and even without a roommate😍
On Sunday, I went on a city trip to Windhoek with Maja. First, you visit a craft market where a lot of jewelry, wooden items, and souvenirs are sold. It was really cool there, but there were so many things that I couldn't decide and ended up only buying a figurine of a guinea fowl (they are everywhere here, it's the animal I've seen the most😂)
After that, you go to a shopping mall, which was a pleasant change after 6 weeks in nature. I also needed some clothes, so it worked out well.
Back at the farm, we went to the pool and then had dinner.
Since it was actually Maja's last evening, we wanted to party a bit, but she wasn't feeling well and went to bed early. However, it was also the last evening for a boy from Denmark whom I always played pool with, so I played some pool and watched a movie with him.
On Monday morning, I didn't feel so good either, but I still went to the morning activity. We had to clean the lion enclosure. When we got back to the farm, I had to go to the tent and sleep because I really didn't feel well. So I missed the lunchtime activity and the morning activity on Tuesday.
Fortunately, I felt better on Tuesday afternoon and I had Rhinorangers Part 1. Unfortunately, we didn't see any rhinos, but we saw the elephants and giraffes. I can't report anything exciting about the evenings this week because I always went to bed relatively early.
On Wednesday, we had Rhinorangers Part 2, where we checked the electric fences again. After that, we had a small presentation about native bushes that the Bushmen use as medicine. At lunchtime, we fed the vultures, eagles, and owls again. This time, I was lucky and there were no half horse heads😅
In the evening, I FaceTimed with my family for an hour because they all met without me to cook and watch a movie😭
On Thursday, I had the honorable task of removing the weeds from the electric fence🤢 It was really exhausting, but actually more pleasant than last time and I didn't get sunburned. At lunchtime, we had the baboon walk and this time they were really playful and cuddly😍🐒
On the way back, it started pouring rain again, and after 2 weeks in the desert, I wasn't used to rain anymore😂
On Friday morning, we got another performance from the children at the school, and then I had to pack my things because we were going to the coast at noon😍
All in all, the week was a bit more relaxed and "boring", but that was also quite pleasant🤗
