Hello 🙌
On the 26th, we changed our quarters to the other part of Bangkok. Now we are in the 'rich area', where many banks, upscale hotels, most skyscrapers, and many embassies are located.
There are also several large parks; we are near Lumphini Park, which is mainly known because the city once had big problems with the many monitor lizards (there were once more than 400). But even now we still see some, also quite big ones, walking around in it.... The park is very well maintained, there are two large lakes where you can go paddle boating and where there are lots of huge catfish... There are also many opportunities to do sports: some use the many paths for road cycling, go jogging, or use the many fitness equipment that is scattered in groups at several places in the park. So we took the opportunity the next morning and tried out the equipment a bit... then we had good sandwiches by the shore 😊🍔
Because it was Jakob's birthday on the 26th, we chose a good sushi restaurant in the area for dinner: Koken-Sushi sounded the best... and the sushi was sooo good 😍 Especially the fish here is much tastier and fresher than at home... and also designed in a completely different way and there is much more variety in different types of sushi....
Yesterday and today we went to the center of Bangkok in the afternoon with all its shopping malls lined up in the big shopping street. We managed to walk through seven of them in the two days.... Most of them have up to 7 floors and are real luxury malls: you even get scanned at each entrance. For our price range, there was hardly anything except H&M (as typical) everywhere, only unknown luxury brands (Jakob even finally got to his Leica store, where only a few camera models were on display). The best were the huge supermarkets, where you always found something to try; whether it was dried fruits (everything is dried here...) pastries or soups. Of course, the supermarkets are also first-class: huge fresh meat and fish counters of the best quality, many German, specially advertised products, and a large selection in all categories.
Tonight we packed our luggage and sorted it out for the luggage weight limit of 15kg, which we just reached. Because tomorrow we're already off to Indonesia!
Pictures and additions will be added later, as we already packed our backpacks too well for tomorrow, because we forgot that we need a computer and the pictures from the hard drive for this article... 🙊
You'll hear from us,
TeriYaki 😊
