After leaving Gjirokastra behind and driving towards the mountains at nearly 30 degrees Celsius, we were accompanied by a strong and extensive thunderstorm. It rained and thundered almost continuously until we reached our destination, the thermal springs. Once we arrived, we found a spot to park. As soon as we had everything set up, there was a knock on the motorhome door. Martin, a native Leipziger, and Nadja from Bremerhaven asked for help. Both had arrived by plane and were now hitchhiking, completely drenched along with their tent and all their equipment. The walk to the nearest hotel would have taken over an hour, straight through the canyon. Now they asked us if we could give them a ride. Of course, we did. So once again, the camper turned around and off we went on a short but very pleasant ride. Have fun, both of you, onwards 🙂
Back at the thermal springs, we spontaneously decided to jump in. By then, the rain had stopped and the sun cast its last rays over the canyon in the evening. When else do you get to sit in a thermal spring at 13 degrees Celsius outside temperature and look at snow-covered mountain peaks? A very extraordinary experience.
