Our day started just as the last one ended - in the car...
Although that's not entirely true. Last night ended with a visit to a pub, where a trio of guitarist, accordion player, and violinist performed Scottish folk songs. We would have liked to stay longer, but the miles of the day had already taken a toll on us.
Actually, today's morning began with the first annoyance. Apparently, a guest at our B&B thought it would be a great idea to block the driveway with their car and leisurely have breakfast... but we are flexible, so we squeezed our luggage past their Kia (which says it all) and finally got going.
Our journey with the destination of Edinburgh first took us to Elgin, where we admired the beautiful cathedral, or what remains of it.
Then, we were once again drawn to the Speyside. Here, we visited the remaining 25 distilleries and in the end, Maxi was finally able to buy his beloved Glen Allachie 10-year-old Cask Strength.
We now have 40 kilos of whisky on top of our 23 kilos of luggage per person - it will be interesting on Friday.
The next stop was Balmoral Castle, where the Queen spends her summers every year.
On the way, we made several stops to admire the beautiful Highland landscape. There was almost a tragedy when Maxi was chased and almost attacked by two aggressive sheep. Thank goodness our Fiat has enough horsepower for us to make a quick escape. 😁
After endless hours in the car, we finally arrived in Edinburgh at 7 pm, in pouring rain.
Now we are sitting in a small booth in a great little whisky bar. I'm sure you can guess what we're doing here 😉
Tomorrow we will explore Edinburgh and we will check in on our last evening.
Regards
Verena and Maxi
