After breakfast at Snow City Cafe, we drove to the Heritage Museum. There was a lot to learn about the native people of Alaska in the museum village. The stories told by their descendants were particularly interesting. The traditional dances and songs were also captivating.
After visiting the museum, we headed to Hatcher Pass. The drive over the pass on a gravel road was an experience in itself. And the scenery, simply incredible. The weather was constantly changing. One moment it was blue skies and sunshine, the next moment dark skies and rain.
After an eventful and diverse journey, we arrived in Talkeetna. From here, we had a clear view of Mount McKinley. We had never seen such a tall mountain before. You think the mountains in the foreground are already high, but then you see Mount McKinley towering over everything. Truly mind-blowing.
In Talkeetna, it feels like they were still shooting a western movie yesterday, and today the tourists are flocking to the town to see everything. You feel like you're in the Wild West here. The only thing missing are horses in front of the saloon. And instead of fries, you get a bag of chips with your burger.
