We leave behind the western Atlantic coast and continue into the wonderfully green Portuguese countryside. Our destination Meruge is located in the middle of nowhere in the endless Sierre de Estrella, in a small but quaint and cozy campsite surrounded by greenery. Without other campers, you would almost feel like you're staying in a local's garden. The little estate has charm and treats us to a jazz concert for one night. On a small adventurous hike into the untouched surroundings, we reach Castella - a quaint Portuguese village, just as you would imagine it - historical, cozy, and incredibly peaceful, except for the many dutiful guard dogs that test our adrenaline levels in every driveway...
