Today we reached the South Shetlands. Calm sea and beautiful weather welcome us. The day starts for Ruth and me at 06:00, as we didn't want to miss the first iceberg. And indeed, the first iceberg appears breathtakingly, with the South Shetlands in the background. Immediately, we go up to the deck. With the low temperatures, clear air, and icy blue water, the great polar feeling sets in immediately. I don't know where to look at all. Everything is so deeply impressive, and a real sense of exploration arises within me (us). I can't remember the last time I felt so good. Everything seems so peaceful and calm here. The icy world in front of us doesn't appear hostile but rather inviting to us. We are looking forward to the first landing at 19:00 (23:00 at home) today.
Everywhere in the water, you can see whales and penguins. It's difficult to capture them with the camera. It worked out well with one whale. The back and tail fin are visible. This is not SeaWorld, where you can watch the animals underwater through a glass pane.
