Alaska-Canada May 26-June 9, 2023 June 4

Today we are heading towards Wrangell, 'The Soul of Alaska', one of the oldest island cities in Alaska. Here, you can find ancient petroglyphs carved in stone at various parts of the beach. There are a total of about 50 petroglyphs here. A petroglyph is a prehistoric rock image carved, scraped, or picked into the ground, unlike rock painting. Wrangell is a city and, since June 1, 2008, an independent borough in the Alaska Panhandle. Before becoming its own borough, it belonged to the Wrangell-Petersburg Census Area and has a population of 2,130. In Wrangell, we were also able to observe the tides, with a difference of six meters, which is the highest possible difference in the world. This afternoon, we have a rainy afternoon, and we explore the charming town, bundled up in our rain jackets from Hurtigruten (the rain jackets pass the test impeccably). In the evening, we experience a beautiful sunset over the Alaska sky.
