The rain did not stop despite a small hope from the weather forecast, so we have to postpone our helicopter flight to the glacier for the next trip.
Departure towards Queenstown, initially in pouring rain. One last stop at Tasman Sea with actually beautiful opportunities for views, but with this weather.....
Then through the mountains, over Haast Pass, which was just reopened this morning after a closure due to fallen trees, the rain was slowly getting lighter. Stops at small mountain lakes, Fantail Falls, Roaring Billy Falls, and Fantail Falls.
With reaching Lake Wanaka, the sun finally showed up again, so you could really enjoy the route and the views at Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea, simply fantastic.
Our TomTom then sent us the final stretch from Wanaka to Queenstown not via the State Highway but via Crown Lane, which is scenically beautiful.
