Day 49 - Greek Brisbane

It's warm, no, almost hot. It's only 6:30 am. Nevertheless, or precisely because of that, we are already awake. In addition, there is a salty and humid veil in the air. The oppressive weather makes cleaning up and packing up not easy or pleasant. Today we have to/dare to drop off Vicky in Brisbane, which means we have to spruce her up. This makes us sweat a lot. Shortly before 8 am, we attack our leftover breakfast, so the fridge is empty. One last time we go to the 'Walk of Dishes' and make our dishes shine. Then it's time to drop off the bikes. The rental company is coming to pick up our cruiser bikes in front of the campground.

Before we leave the campground and thus the Gold Coast, we take the first shower of the day to refresh ourselves from the early morning heat. Then we drive to Brisbane and see that the thermometer already shows 29 degrees. Soon we are in the city and look for our hotel for today. There we check in, deposit all our luggage, and then deliver Vicky to the campervan company. Phil, the nice dude who takes care of Vicky, even calls us a taxi so we can get back to the city. 10 minutes later, a Tesla picks us up and takes us to South Bank. A neighborhood with many restaurants and a large park with a city beach and green areas.

In the meantime, we are hungry and quickly sit down at the Zeus restaurant - mind you, it's Greek - and order two delicious salads. After that, we stroll through the park a bit, but the heat (about 36 degrees) makes us tired. We decide to take the train the 2 stops / 3km back to the hotel, shower, and relax a bit. We are grateful for the air-conditioned room.

At 5 pm, we are ready to go again and head towards the city center. Our goal is to have a small dinner by the Brisbane River - it's windier there and slightly cooler. We find a very nice spot and sit down at a table. When we get the menu, we notice that it's Greek. Today, we keep it consistent and the food is really great. We are satisfied and after a short digestive walk through the 'nightly' Brisbane (at 7:30 pm), we return to the hotel. Exhausted, we go to bed at 9:30 pm.
