During the layover, we noticed that neither of us had ever been to Switzerland. And we had never sat on a plane for over 10 hours either 😅
Our boarding in Zurich was slightly delayed due to the number of passengers, although the Swiss Star Alliance made every effort to expedite everyone through the stamp control - in the end, we missed our scheduled departure time and took off about an hour later. We used this time to sleep.😴
Activities in the air: Watching some movies, reading, listening to podcasts. We hope the child with descent nausea feels better quickly 🤢🫣
The weather is cloudy at 22°C
Now off to Anne - our first AirBnB accommodation for one night. We take the Canada Line (driverless subway) and the bus a bit north. Anne warmly welcomes us to her cozy little house - with 2 cats🥰. In the second AirBnB, there are also vacationers from Germany. Anne advises us to go to the beach. And we should be cautious about the river (Fraser River - approximately on our route around August 10) which has had significant flooding today.
We enjoy the evening at the northern beach of Vancouver after a walk - including a detour to the supermarket.
Here we experience a wonderful sunset with a view of the hilly part of Vancouver towards Squamish. With a bit of luck, the Northern Lights may be visible tonight.
Unusual for us: Traffic lights for cars are only after(!) the intersection - few to almost no trash cans (and yet it is clean).
Tomorrow we pick up our rental car 💪
But for now, it's time to sleep 😴😅
