Agnes Water/Seventeen-Seventy (22nd - 24th Oct. 2018)

The stay at Myella Farm was a great experience. Our next destination was Agnes Water. It is located near Eurimbula National Park and the town of 1770, where Captain Cook first landed in 1770. On the way there, we had to pass cows that were on the road and on the roadside where the grass was the best.

Unfortunately, for this reason, we saw a variety of kangaroos run over on our route. 😔😔 Kangaroos mainly feed on grass.

In Govigan, we passed a small idyllic church where we stopped briefly.

After a 4-hour drive, we finally arrived in Agnes Water. After checking into our accommodation 'LOVELEY Cottages', we went to the beach and enjoyed a little cool down and the ocean waves. The next day, we had another boat tour with a speedboat.

After a 2-hour drive, we reached 'Lady Musgrave Island'. What awaited us here while snorkeling amazed us. There were spots on the reef that were completely different, with a variety of corals. In this reef, there are approximately 600 solid forms of corals and about 400 soft forms with different colors.

We saw giant turtles lying and swimming. There were also reef sharks, which are considered harmless, and a variety of fish as far as the eye could see: large, small, long, thin, etc. We felt like in an aquarium, but without windows. It was unique and very special - the dream of every snorkeler. And we had all the time in the world.

However, at some point, the teeth start to chatter because you're so chilled.

Back on board, we had delicious finger food and warmed up inside with coffee/tea and outside with the sun.

Then we crossed over to the shore of Lady Mustgrave Island with a glass-bottom boat.

With Markus, an experienced guide from our crew, we took a hike on the island.

Currently, there are around 6,500 birds on the island, in winter months even up to 150,000 - 200,000. Considering the island is only about one square kilometer in size - not really big. Accordingly, the smell was also intense when we crossed the island. And I was lucky too. 😅 (bird droppings) 🙀

We learned a lot about the local flora and fauna, but also about the different bird species and the giant sea turtles that lay their eggs here on land.

We ended this unforgettable day with a small seafood dinner at sunset.

The next morning, we headed to Noosa, the final stop before Brisbane.
