So here we are again!
After tearful goodbyes at home, nervous final hours, and fear of flying, the joy finally set in for the first time on the airplane. It wasn't as bad as I thought! Phew! The flight was great, 13 hours and 10,700km later, we finally made it! โ๏ธ
The desire for new cultures brought us to Singapore!ย
However, Gianna's enthusiasm faded on the first evening ๐! I personally experienced the culture shock first hand. It takes a while for us to get used to the intense 70% humidity, all the smells, and the people!
Well, the heat can't stop a gourmet like me! Boldly, we ordered noodle soup and noodles with chicken at a street kitchen.๐ The consequences of my adventurousness came promptly the next morning... My Swiss stomach, accustomed to a more delicate diet, couldn't handle such food ๐ Well, you have to go through it, but I've only been eating local dishes in the last few days because they are also much cheaper. In this regard, it should be mentioned that hygiene leaves a lot to be desired... My coffee with the previous person's lipstick on the cup was one thing, but if I look into the kitchens of some eateries, I feel sick ๐คข The plates are not always nicely washed either...
In Singapore, there are many small restaurants and so-called food courts (called Hawker Centers). These are many small food stalls with a variety of dishes. From fried frog legs to satay skewers to crab in chili sauce, you can find everything there! ๐ฆ ๐
Enjoying all this is quite a challenge. Every minute in Singapore ๐ธ๐ฌ, I was completely sweaty and then shivering under the air conditioning in every shopping mall. โ๏ธ๐
Today, on the second and last day, we visited Chinatown in initially pouring rain. It was pretty interesting but also very touristy... Many small shops with all sorts of junk but also a lot of food.ย
I wasn't hungry there yet, but I was in the neighborhood of Little India afterwards. The curry was excellent, but Gianna didn't like it much because the Asians/Indians don't remove every tendon or all the sloppiness from the chicken ๐ If you want to lose weight, you should definitely travel to Asia! Due to the heat, you never feel like eating, and since you won't eat half of it anyway, you'll be just fine ๐ However, if you still want to try all the exotic food, you can be sure that your digestive system will go through some acrobatics!
All in all, Singapore was very interesting but also takes some getting used to, from the people to the city to the food. The toilets are revolting, no one cleans, it smells - No one looks back - it's miserable! ๐ฝย
However, Singapore is considered very clean, even chewing gum is prohibited, and littering is punishable by prison or fines of up to $5,000. Cigarette butts are also not welcome, and if you throw them away, you can lose $500.
