today I'll give you a short report on what we've been up to in the past few days - life here is sooooo exciting :) and we're doing great!
On Sunday, we went to the 'Natura' nature park with Mitchel, Fernanda, Christina, and Anne (another German who is also working on Mitchel's jackfruit farm for a few weeks). The park is located here in the village and will officially open in 4 months. It's like a botanical garden, with many native crops and information for visitors.
They are also trying to reintroduce the Maya bees there. These are small black bees without stingers, which are unfortunately also endangered (due to the same mite as in Germany and the other bee species that are now arriving in Mexico from other countries). The bees produce very little honey, which is not used for consumption like in Germany, but only for medicinal or cosmetic products due to its special properties.
Afterwards, we went off-roading through the jungle in jeeps. It was sooooo amazing 😍 a total feeling of freedom 😀 we also took a tour to a lagoon in the middle of the jungle, where there are crocodiles.
There, we paddled in pairs with canoes to a platform in the middle of the lagoon and simply enjoyed the tranquility. Unfortunately, we didn't see any crocodiles 🐊.
