27.10. Flowers over flowers

Byatangajwe: 28.10.2018

Yesterday was our last day in Dalat and at 5 pm we wanted to take a sleeper bus to our next destination, Hoi An. So we still had the morning to explore Dalat a bit. While Andra went to a temple complex outside the city, I walked along the lake and actually wanted to go to a park to relax and read. However, the intended park turned out to be a huge golf course, so I had to move on a bit further where I found a beautiful garden. It was nice to escape the noisy and busy city for an hour and a half and simply enjoy the beautifully landscaped gardens. There were so many colors to see and animal shapes formed from bushes, which made me wonder how one makes a bush take the shape of a little monkey.

In the park, there were also a fragrant greenhouse full of roses and many small quiet corners where the builders could showcase small water features or a different architectural style, like Japanese pavilions and bridges.

After the park, we went back towards the city center, where I met Andra again, who had a nice morning at the temples, at the so-called "Crazy House". The name already says it all about this complex of buildings... Winding and narrow stairs led up to houses or to another part of a building, where you could never be sure and could find yourself on the roof of the tallest building, from which you had a great view of Dalat and the lake. Narrow "one way" bridges ran between the houses, meaning that if two groups approached from both sides, either one had to turn back or squeeze against the railing above the abyss to let the other group pass. As the central and tallest building, there was a building in the shape of a tree, where construction was still going on. Because even though this was the place with the most tourists in Dalat, it was also a hotel, with room entrances right next to the tourist paths. In conclusion, this attraction was very beautiful and bid us farewell from the city.

At 5 pm, we continued north on the night bus and arrived in the beautiful Hoi An the next day after 14 hours.
