Finally, I made it today with the WOF. On Monday, I took the bus to a panel beater in the morning to weld the few holes in the sill. It might take a few days, he said... In the afternoon, I cut the big hedge at Duncan's place... On Tuesday, I first fell some trees, but then I can already pick up the bus. Today, I went for the retest, the inspector thinks everything has been done very well, but insists on a panel beater report. What competence does he have if he insists on external assessments?
The panel beater would issue the report for me, but he has to inspect the suspicious areas exactly, which means clearing out half of the engine compartment. I decide to drive to another WOF testing station, failed again because of a hole in the exhaust and a cracked mirror... But at least doable without a report... So, I patch the little hole with gum gum, aluminum foil, and hose clamps, and stick a mirror film on the cracked mirror glass... done. For the retest and finally passed... But I've been on the road for 100 km today...
Quickly, I install the sleeping area and put all my things back in the bus, and it's already time for dinner. Tomorrow, I can finally leave, I want to go to the west coast via Arthur's Pass. The great weather will only last for 3 more days, then I should go back from the coast to the interior...
